AMANDA THOMASSIAN
Centre Director

As a resident of Dundas, Amanda is thrilled to be able to connect and give back to her community.   She has over ten years of experience in leadership working within the child welfare system, homelessness sector and educational institutions.   Amanda has always been passionate about supporting our most vulnerable youth and believes in fostering an inclusive environment where youth can feel safe and empowered to be their own advocate.  "The best way we can support our young people is through collaboration and allowing their voices to be at the centre of everything we do." 

KATHERINE ROY
Program Manager

Katherine has a passion for community work and education, with a Masters in early childhood studies. Katherine enjoys mentoring youth of all ages from pre-schoolers to young adults.  "Community building can happen in small ways, from prioritizing time for a shared daily meal to supporting each member's individual career goals by researching and offering professional development opportunities."  We will also benefit from Katherine's experience in working with parents, educators, funders and board members. 

MOHAMED BEN AMARA

Mohamed is a student in the Masters of Applied Health Sciences at Brock University. We are thrilled to have Mohamed's youth work support: "Every person is born with the right to be celebrated, respected, and honoured. I can’t wait to help create a positive environment for youth to grow and develop into strong, compassionate, and valuable members of our community.”

CARMYN JACK

Youth Resiliency Specialist

Carmyn completed her Accelerated Child and Youth Care program at Humber College and we are thrilled to have her join the team as staff! With her background in Social Psychology she is passionate about youth mental health and youth justice. "It is important to take a strengths-based approach to working with youth. When we support youth to foster their strengths we allow them to reach their full potential and be the best version of themselves."

VIOLET GRIFFIN

Violet has a Bachelor's in English and Cultural Studies from McMaster University and is planning to attend teachers college next fall. She believes in the transformative power of having youth-led spaces within the community and looks forward to continuing her work with the amazing youth who attend Routes. 

ANDREW PAYNE

Youth Worker

Andrew has a background in event organization and a passion for developing inclusive programming. "I'm very fortunate to have the opportunity to do engaging, meaningful, and impactful work with youth in my community." He values providing a positive space for youth to feel safe, comfortable, and respected while they enjoy their childhoods and grow as individuals.
